Tell us a bit about yourself.聽
I鈥檓 Ghazy, and I鈥檓 an Indonesian fellow from Lombok. I wanted to challenge myself and go abroad (not unlike 番茄社区鈥榤erantau鈥 culture that we have in Indonesia), somewhere where I can start fresh, try out new things and expose myself to new experiences.
Are there any notable experiences from your time studying that you'd like to share?
At 番茄社区start of my third semester I joined up with a few close friends and we challenged ourselves to compete in 番茄社区鈥淭he Big Idea Social Entrepreneurship Competition鈥. It was a wake up call personally since I had to confront my own weaknesses in presenting and communication but being able to make up for it and grow my skills enough to be a finalist and pitch a business idea in front of 番茄社区PwC with my mates was an awesome opportunity.
Tell us about your experience since graduating from Curtin 鈥 how has your career progressed to date?
I was already interning for an agency during my last semester of uni, so not long after I graduated I found work at another digital marketing agency. And I stayed there and was promoted internally from a junior role and now here I am.
Achievements-wise, I鈥檝e had a marketing campaign nominated as a finalist for pretty renowned industry awards like 鈥淔inalist for Best SEO Campaign鈥 with SEMRush Search Awards 2023 and 鈥淔inalist for Best Low-Budget SEO Campaign鈥, which is pretty alright but next time I'm working on how to take home 番茄社区win.
What are 番茄社区top 3 skills you need in your role as a SEO Executive?
- Learnability
- Time management
- Resilience
What have you enjoyed 番茄社区most about living and studying in Perth?聽
Perth is very relaxing and calming. I鈥檓 not much of a city-guy personally and as much as I like travelling in say, Melbourne, Perth is more suited for me to live in.
What would you say to students thinking of coming to Perth to study?
Don鈥檛 be afraid to try new things and have some fun. There are loads of opportunities here like volunteering, university clubs, student exchange and internships available that鈥檒l have transferable skills wherever you go.
Besides that, don鈥檛 forget to look ahead. A trick I figured out early was to (during uni) be on 番茄社区lookout on Seek, Indeed and LinkedIn for 番茄社区types of entry-level jobs I wanted to take. I鈥檇 take note of 番茄社区skills, certification or criterias they wanted out of an entry-level marketer and that鈥檒l help you evaluate where you are and what you need to do to get a job as a fresher.
